How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
The SMARTDiode system I use works with SHR (Super Hair Removal) technology, delivering laser energy through a series of controlled pulses as the applicator moves across the skin.
Rather than delivering all the energy in a single pulse, SHR gradually builds heat within the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair absorbs the laser energy, helping to damage the follicle and reduce its ability to produce hair.
Hair grows in different stages, and laser is most effective when the hair is in the appropriate active growth phase. Because not every hair is at the same stage at the same time, a course of treatments is needed rather than a single appointment.
As your course progresses, the aim is to achieve a significant, long-lasting reduction in unwanted hair.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Sessions Will I Need?
Most clients typically require around eight treatment sessions, although there isn't a single number that's right for everyone.
Your treatment area, hair characteristics, individual response and other factors can all influence the number of sessions you may need.
I'll monitor your progress throughout your course and give you realistic advice based on how your hair is responding rather than promising a particular result before we've seen how your body responds to treatment.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
I prefer to describe the outcome as long-lasting hair reduction rather than promise permanent hair removal.
Laser treatment can significantly reduce unwanted hair, but individual results vary and it isn't possible to guarantee that every treated hair will disappear permanently.
Following an initial course, some clients may benefit from occasional top-up treatments to help maintain their results over time.
I'll always advise you based on what I'm seeing rather than automatically recommending additional treatments.
